TikTok Video Baker’s

The business I chose for my TikTok video is Baker’s, because the store is still open unlike many other companies and businesses, who closed their stores because of coronavirus. I think it would have been a lot harder to make a video with a company that is currently closed or is doing just takeaway or something like that. That’s why I chose Baker’s, because people still go there and the video looks like it is made under normal circumstances and makes people forget a little bit about the coronavirus. 

To be honest, I don’t know much about TikTok, because I am not using the app and I am not super interested in the whole thing. That’s why I asked one of my friends, who uses TikTok a lot to help me to film and come up with some ideas. With many stores and companies closed, I thought it would be better to do the video with a business that is still open, so it appears in the video and people know what the video is about, just by seeing the business in the video. I think a video for a business that doesn’t really appear in the video wouldn’t really benefit the company that much and maybe cause some confusion. 

My friend then told me about a video he saw on TikTok, where two people take pictures in Walmart at different places and show that normal shopping can turn into a photo shoot, because of all the cool things Walmart has. As a viewer you realize that Walmart is offering a lot of products in their stores, just by seeing the pictures they are taking in different areas of the store. The video showed that a normal boring shopping trip can turn into a really cool photo shoot and we thought we could do that as well at Baker’s.

So me and two friends went to Baker’s to do the video and we just used our phones to record everything. We started to take a picture and then record the way we took that picture. We had so much fun doing it and got done really quick. After that, we just edited everything and the video was basically done. We just used the things in Baker’s that we thought looked cool and started recording. 

I think the video helps to get attention for the company, because people see the store from the inside and passively see all the cool things they have, while watching a video of someone taking pictures everywhere in the store. The viewer sees that you have fun while shopping there and might think about shopping there one day or go to Baker’s more often than before, because of all the cool things they saw in the video. I think the video delivers the message that shopping at Baker’s is cool and fun, which would drive more people to go there

I would like to talk about the third place in this infographic, Turkish airlines with their video “5 senses with Dr. Oz”, because it is one the videos that went viral in 2018 on YouTube and was the most clicked advertisement video on YouTube in 2018. Every stereotypical user of YouTube or any social media platform hates one thing and that is advertisements. That’s why seeing an advertisement going viral impressed me a lot. I watched the video a couple of times and I don’t really know why, but I get goosebumps every time I see it.

The video is 90 seconds long and I enjoyed every moment of it. You feel like watching a movie about the different places on earth, that you can visit with Turkish airlines. But, the most important thing is “Dr. Oz”, who explains you the 5 senses in combination with the places you could visit. You almost feel like you can smell the places in the video and you realize you want to visit them.

This might sound really stupid but you fell like you want to smell these places and taste their foods, while listening to the people and atmosphere wherever you are. Seeing and hearing these places becomes a desire for you and I would just like to buy a ticket and go wherever Turkish Airlines goes. You mind wants to feel, smell, listen, touch, taste all of these things in the video.

I choose this video and not the other one with Messi and Kobe Bryant, because I think this Advertising campaign had much more success, because people watched it, because it was just beautiful and not because the two most popular players of the two most popular sports on the world were in it.

In the end, I would highly recommend watching that video, “5 senses with Dr. Oz”, because it has an effect on you and isn’t just entertaining you or funny. This might be one of the most effective advertisements I have ever seen and although it is only third placed in the most successful airline promotional videos in terms of views, I think it had the most impact and was the biggest success in terms of convincing people to travel with Turkish airlines.

I did my video and picture about the famous football player Marco Reus. Marco Reus is one of Germany’s best footballers ever, but he never won a super big title in his life. The reasons for the lack of success he had in his career are his injuries. Reus suffered multiple horrible injuries in his career, many of them caused by opponents during a game. His injury history includes around 50 smaller and bigger injuries during his 12 seasons in professional football.

In 2014, Marco Reus was probably in his prime and one of the most dangerous attacking midfielders in the world. Luckily for him, he was part of the German national team that was about to leave Germany to Brazil, to compete in the worlds biggest sporting competition, the FIFA World Cup. With Germany being the favorite for the Tournament and Reus in the shape of his life, everything looked as a setup for Reus to finally shine after his many injuries.

But the it happened, Germany set up a friendly game against Albania as a last test before the World Cup.
Reus, the player who got injured so many times by his opponents, injured himself by landing unlucky with left foot resulting in breaking a part of his ankle. Reus couldn’t play and was injured for about 3 months. Germany went on and won the World cup without Reus. Reus will never be seen as a part that achieved the biggest success in soccer although he was their best player and everyone thought it would be his time to shine.

Many more injuries were coming in the following years, but Reus came back every time and in 2019 the German Bundesliga were seeing a Marco Reus they have never seen before. A player that was even better than before the World Cup in 2014 ,when he was supposed to be in his prime. Marco Reus never gave up and stayed motivated and not to be pitied,although he was getting hit mentally so many times in his career. People need to realize that no matter how often you fall, you always need to stand up again.

The video I created is about the two most horrible injuries Reus had to face in his career and about his 2019 season were he actually was in his prime although he suffered so many injuries before. The picture I created symbolizes soccer through Marco Reus. Soccer br people together, because it has its own culture and passion. This culture and passion can be beautiful so many times for fans and players, but also so mentally hard and devastating. Every person who feels soccer and understands the language” spoken, has huge respect for Marco Reus, but many people need to understand that he is teaching us a lesson about life.

Social Media Strategy for Made Up Company

First of all, I would like to talk about my Company that is called Athletes Food. This company is basically a fast food restaurant with healthy and especially vitamin- and protein-rich food. In addition to that, the company should have a really good image, that shows that the originally fast food restaurant is a restaurant that delivers good service, outstanding quality at medium costs.

This diagram shows the average percentage of US. population engaged in sports and exercise per day from 2010-2018. This graph indicates that around 20%, so nearly every fifth person is doing sports daily. This part of the population should also be interested in Nutrition and eating healthy. This shows the potential of the company in Social media, because nearly every fifth person could possibly be interested in a restaurant like that and especially the age group from 18-24, which is really present in social media, could become potential and regularly costumers of my company.

My first step in the Social Media Strategy would be to create accounts for Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and set realistic goals in terms of Likes, Followers, and more.. . The importance of the social media networks is mentioned in their order. The budget for my marketing is really important, because although i can imagine who my target audience is, researches and surveys can help and indicate many potential costumers in age and gender. The next step would be to analyze competition and learn from the success and failures on social media, before my company can start to spend big money on sponsor deals and contracts with athletes and other companies.

One of my first steps would be signing contracts with athletes that represent exactly my target audience. The company serves food that is healthy and especially vitamin- and protein-rich food. Sports where this kind of food is really important could be: Soccer, Track and Field, Basketball, Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Hockey and many more. Those mentioned above are probably the most famous sports. The first step would be to sign at least one of the athletes for those sports. For example, a female Soccer player, male Basketball player, a group of male Football players, a female tennis player, …. . You could sign them over their agency’s or better you could try to team up with one of the Top sports brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma or Under Armor. The athletes would wear their sponsors clothes in the pictures and videos, while eating at your restaurant. This partnership could save you money and would give you an trustful image with attention.

The athletes and the brand would only be super most important in the beginning of my marketing strategy to generate attention and an image. After that Chefs and Nutrition specialist would become really important to show the people, for example, videos of them cooking food from the restaurant and Nutritionist explaining the benefits of the product the Company offers. This would ensure the image of the company and use the attention, created by the athletes, to get more people outside the target audience interested in the restaurant.

I would launch the companies Social Media Attack in November, because as seen in the graph above, i have the most potential to gain new costumers for my products in January after New Years. In November and December i should have gained a good amount of followers and attention through the Athletes and the brand, which makes it possible to have a high amount of followers, likes, …, after January. In my opinion it is not that important in the beginning to calculate the numbers of Likes and Followers you get, because the brand and the image that you create have their own value. After the first three months of the social media campaign, in this case, you can start to set more specific and more realistic goals for the platforms your on, in terms of likes, followers, views, and other social media platforms that could have a positive aspects on your marketing strategy.

Audit Reflection

I think it was really interesting to work together with someone, who is actually the boss of the marketing team in a real company while auditing their social media presence and experience. We started the conversation by showing him/her everything that we found about their company at our 4 social media platforms. ( Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin ). After that we discussed our results, because the amount of followers was really different on all of the platforms, with Facebook being the platform with most followers and most activity. Surprisingly for us, the company didn’t have a Linkedin page, which was our first discussion point that we as a group would improve in the future (creating a page). The second point we would improve is the activity on all other three social media pages. Live-streams and stories could be really beneficial and to show what happens behind the scenes. This would make the page look better and it is in my opinion really interesting to see these live images and actions. After we presented our thoughts and ideas, we gained a lot of information about the company and their workers as well as about the marketing team, their strategies and ideas. It was really nice to listen to some of the points mentioned by the organizations social media presence and see the situation from their perspective. I think it was really nice to talk to someone who has a job at a real company in the marketing section, because it is often hard to imagine how for example a marketing director works and thinks and what he or she is doing. For future meetings, it would be nice to see some actual work of the marketing director. So if they could bring something that shows exactly what they are doing or what different challenges they have to face in their daily life in or outside the office. In conclusion, i think that it was really good for us as students to talk to someone who got a job in an actual company as a marketing director, because based on the ideas presented and the information we gained, now i personally can imagine which things are important in social media marketing and which tasks you have to face.

Why did I choose this class ?

My major is Sport Marketing and Management and I am really interested in the role of social media in our daily society and life. The process over the last years showed the opportunities for companies in social media and the importance of social media especially for marketing. That’s why I think it is really important to always be up to date. I hope to learn a lot in this class because over marketing strategies on social media platforms and the different influences social media has on our life. My favorite social media platform is Instagram and i spend to much time on there every day. Other social media platforms I use are Snapchat and WhatsApp, because the communication on these Apps is so easy and quick, which is especially for me as an international student just really nice to have. I hope this class shows me the opportunities for Marketing in social media and how marketing is used efficiently in today’s life. In addition to that i hope to get information about the marketing teams for big sport clubs and how they use social media to get closer with their fans. In the past, i worked in a small online shop that sold old cameras and I created an Instagram page for the online shop, because my boss knew more people would recognize his online shop through social media. Looking back at it, i might would have done things differently and/or on another platform like Facebook, but I see this as a big learning process. The importance of comments, stories and Live-streams is often ignored by companies, but can have an big impact as i found out in that little project. Furthermore, i would like to learn more about the differences on social media platforms, because not every platform is used by the same age and gender. Getting more information about these small details can improve marketing strategies and i hope these information can also help me and bring new ideas and opportunities in marketing.
